Kensington Quarters, Philadelphia

Kensington Quarters is the butcher slash restaurant in the hip Northern Liberties area of Philadelphia. A friend lives a few blocks away and we decided to have brunch. I was also renovating a new apartment and I’m into the industrial slash rustic look so it was an opportunity to check out the place.

I like how the lighting connectors are exposed. I have a similar set up at my place with a more luxury type of light fixtures.

Opposite the counter is the walk in fridge with a glass window for a view of all the cow parts on offer for sale.

I like the industrial look but the exposed wires in the place is just a bit busy for me.

Oh, we were here for the food …
We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and hamburger. I know of colleagues at work who enjoyed dining here with bourbon and such. However, I don’t see how special this place is. The quality of the meat is not better than the Pat LaFrieda short rib burger patties I order from Fresh Direct. My friend likes the lean cuts so I won’t even touch that. This place might be popular because of how humanely the cows are sourced. I don’t find that happy cows equate to delicious burgers. This is just a regular uninspired brunch place to me with bottomless coffee.
