Searcys at the Gherkin, London

The Gherkin is my favorite skycraper. If a building could have a personality, I would say it’s elegantly complex. I love the details. Searcys is the restaurant on the top floor, circled on the picture above. Searcys is members only but during the summer months it is open to the public. I had a bet with a friend that I’ll be dining there one day. And, I did.

It was raining the day I was there but I was still beyond excited. There were Philippe Starck acrylic ghost chairs all around. It’s cool to see but I won’t want them in my home, bad feng shui.

It was cool to see the cheese grater building from this angle. And, I’m usually around the Shard area when I visit London. It’s a nice change to actually see the Shard from this distance.

Lunch was a set menu with choices. It includes a welcome cocktail which I opted to drink at the bar area where the acrylic chairs were.
