Good Taiwanese grub in Philadelphia is difficult to find. Yes, Chinatown will have the usual suspects like oyster omelette or beef noodle soup. But, I was looking for more authentic deliciousness.

Dan Dan opened up in Center City and is related to spice powerhouse restaurant Han Dynasty. And, Horay, there were Taiwanese options.

We went to the 2nd floor. I was surprised how cool the bar looked.

This was what I was craving for. Thinly sliced pork belly in chili oil served cold. I can’t handle too much spice so I ordered a bowl of rice to pair this with.

It was happy hour and the specials were just $5 a plate. The seafood dumpling was good. I know it’s odd looking but delicious.

The $5 happy hour wings were ok, too much 5 spice seasoning for me. If I didn’t attack the pork belly, I think the wings would be more appreciated with a cold draft to pair it with. The glass of wine I had didn’t pair well with this.
