Amadaversary 2015

Amada celebrated its 10th anniversary with a paella cook-off and a flamenco performance for a complete Iberian experience. Competing restaurants were from the Garces suite of establishments in Philadelphia. The event tent was packed within 15 mins after the event started.

I loved the paella offerings !! The chefs were very creative. Some non-traditional paella ingredients used were kimchi and mexican mole. There was a vegetarian option. Chicharron (pig skin crackling) was even used as topping. I felt liked I’m in paella heaven. I specially liked the Coq Au Vin Paella from Graces Trading Co. The pork belly was seasoned and seared perfectly. This was the game changer for me. It heightened the whole paella tasting experience. However, the people choice winner was the paella from Graces Events. It was good, it’s the more traditional seafood type paella.

Buena Onda, the taco shop from Garces, served as the event’s bar station. I ordered a white sangria. It was ok, not fabulous. I don’t think they used Amada’s white sangria recipe.
