Philadelphia Feastival 2012
Philadelphia Feastival is an annual event where Philadelphia’s elite come out to mingle, have fun and do good works by raising money in support of the city’s art and culture scene. The event was a total feast for the senses. SIGHT – To make the large venue more intimate, there were dancers painted in silver performing on a scaffolding as feastival guests enter pier 9. To top that, feastival guests were treated to 360 degrees of acrobatic performances. SMELL and TASTE – Delicious libations and sumptuous small plates were served in what seemed to be an unending array of choices from Philadelphia’s fine dining establishments.
What sets Philadelphia Feastival apart from the rest of the gourmet food events in this country? It’s the generosity of the people who participate and support the event. At the live auction, I’ve never seen so much money pledged so fast. Since the crowd was in such a generous and festive mood, Michael Solomonov and Ed Rendell added last minute auction items, a culinary experience package for 10 and a VIP sports events package for 2 to add to the tally already raised.
