Honey’s Sit n’ Eat, Philadelphia
I haven’t explored much of Northern Liberties since relocating to Philadelphia. Most people had warned me not to go there. But, I know of a few co-workers who live there so the area couldn’t be that bad. Recently, I’ve been hearing that the food scene there is thriving so I took a risk yesterday and headed down to Honey’s Sit n’ Eat.
Honey’s Sit n’ Eat is one of Northern Liberties hidden food gems. The place is light on ambience, a bit scary, but scores high kudos for good food. I went the comfort food route and ordered the Turkey Meatloaf. The meatloaf was moist despite being made from turkey and had a kicker secret ingredient, pimiento. There was a nice sweet – mild heat with every bite.
I also ordered a banana split because it came with a deep fried banana. Well, in theory, the dish seemed exciting. In execution, it came out a luke warm mess. The deep fried banana melted the ice cream too quickly. I might order this again in the winter but I would not recommend this in the summer.
